NYPD Going Encrypted. Next Is FDNY?

Another point is some of us are nowhere near the transmissions we're listening to. I listen to the 5 boroughs on my FDNY radio. I live in NJ by the time I got to the closest incident which would be in SI I'm at least a half hour out. Same with NYPD. The locals here are either encrypted or have...

NYPD Going Encrypted. Next Is FDNY?

I don't really see the reason to encrypt FD anyway. There's no reason to figure out where they are because someones definitely gonna show up. And it will be in minutes. Criminals are much more concerned with the whereabouts of cops. If they're so worried about people using two-ways to interrupt...

NYPD Going Encrypted. Next Is FDNY?

The small towns here because of their small size have encrypted. East Brunswick and Spotswood to name a couple. And this isn't a place where much goes on but I'm figuring the lower cost of less radios to upgrade is a factor. Its annoying when you want to monitor but these frequencies aren't too...

NYPD Going Encrypted. Next Is FDNY?

And cheap radios have flooded the market. Once upon a time a scanner or 2-way radio were at least a few hundred. Now anyone can buy a 2-way on Amazon for 30 bucks. I have a BCD996 P2 and a HT1250 LS+ those 2 radios cost me a nice piece of change. The apps are another story. Too much access and...

I lived on the block right after I got married for a few years. Those houses weren't there yet and the block was not open to Hylan. Those look like an up/down semi where 1 family has the first floor and the other door goes upstairs. It was a very nice block and my landlords were fantastic people.

In this day and age I would unfortunately agree. These soldiers are not always regarded as heroes by the current generation. May each and everyone of them Rest In Peace for a job well done.

About 10 years ago Boeing had issues with lithium battery fires on the 787. They found it was short circuiting within battery cells causing inflight fires. Before the problem really got out of hand they encased the batteries in a fireproof case with vents. No problems since. As much as we all...

My work location was on 3rd st for many years I can't believe the way they jammed these buildings in on those 2 blocks. The buildings on 1st were single story factory type buildings. The guy on the left side we all knew because we fixed his phones countless times. I can imagine what he got for...

8/27/95 The St. George Hotel Fire

I'm not an FDNY member but as someone who worked there after the fire I don't think I've seen worse destruction in a one block area anywhere else.

I drove a large VZ van through Carroll Gardens for years and it was a tight fit sometimes. I can't imagine trying it with a TL. Btw years ago probably early to mid 2000's I did an install at E279/L131. I was there for a half day and the guys made me lunch. They insisted I stayed to eat and were...
