    Father's Day Fire - June 17, 2001

I will never forget where I was. Manhattan CO, Decision Dispatcher. Had R-1 tied up on a possible scaffolding collapse downtown, with another one coming in up in Harlem. R-1 became available, we sent them. Dennis Mojica(RIP) was the boss in 1. R-4 was turned around and went into the job in...

    Volly companies in NYC

That's a different ball of wax right there, and I could totally understand the scab remarks if that were the case.

    Volly companies in NYC

It depends on who you ask, obviously. As you can see 2811 doesn't have a positive view of them. Most of them were there before FDNY established a presence. That's one of the reasons Oceanic and Richmond still exist today, on top of something like the City Charter, if I remember right...

    Emergency Engine and Squad 51

I was fortunate to have attended this event last July. Wouldn't have missed it for anything. Got some pretty decent shots of not only the E! apparatus, but did about a day and a half of other apparatus from Long Beach, to LA CITY, to Torrance, and back to County. Also got to sit down and have...

10th anniversary: crash of Flight 587 in Rockaways -

I remember being awakened by a phone call that morning. I was sleeping off a great night of drinking with a friend for their birthday. My friend from Long Beach, CA called me to see if I was ok. I cranked up the scanner, and turned on the TV. My heart sunk when I found out where it was. I found...

    Your FAVORITE classic NYC firehouse?

Since I'm still in my 30's, I have zero recollection of the older Macks/WLF/ALF/Seagraves prior to say 1969. Anything prior to that probably wasn't in service in my early childhood. Personal favorites, 1979 Mack CF Engine Any Mack CF Engine from 1970 on, except for the 78's. Wasn't too fond of...

    E63/L39, Rescue and other stuff...

I've made a hobby out of photographing fire apparatus over the past few years. There have been only two places where I've had a little bit of an issue. The first was in California. I stopped by a house that ran two engines, a truck and two or three buses. They would only pull out the first...
