100' Ferrara Rear Mount Aerials

Question for someone in the know, were the 1999-2002 seagrave rearmounts that were replaced over the last few years in bad enough shape that they had to dispose of them instead of making them spares or is it that the current ferraras that replaced them are out of service so often that there is just not enough to cover all the company's ?

No, they're all in the spare pool.....more or less.  27 had the old 30 recently and 29 has the old 28 right now.

Not to infer anything either positive or negative about the Ferraras; just curious.  How often does a front line rig go into the shops for an oil change or other routine maintenance, and how long does such a stay usually last?

They will do PMP when the company goes OOS for medicals or education day. This work is done on Randall's Island usually. If it is going to shops, there is something more substantially wrong with the rig.

When the next group of bids are opened for Rear Mount Aerials will the history with these units influence the decision-making process at all?  It certainly seems like it should but if you look at how they have purchased equipment in the past you would have to wonder.

A bid was opened in June but no contract has been awarded as of yet, KME, Ferrara and Seagrave were the bidders

There is no "decision".  Competetive bidding law awards the contract to the low bidder, as long as the bid meets the specs.  Done, no room for choice.
