4 of 5 boroughs... anybody from the Bronx want to come and join to make this a five borough tour?My goodness E 274 from Flushing Queens going to SI as a HazTech unit. I would have thought a unit out of Brooklyn and maybe 274 backfilling.

Did they shut down the application of water before they began using foam ?Foam was applied via the tower ladders.

I think assigning the farther out units instead of rotating the same close-in units serves as a bit of a training tool to keep everyone fresh especially on incidents like this which are not the norm of daily operations. My goodness E 274 from Flushing Queens going to SI as a HazTech unit. I've seen an 1960's vintage photo of E10's 1954 Mack sitting next to E159's quarters. Many moons ago 16 engine would relocate to Staten Island at E154 (Hannah street quarters) by taking the rig on the Staten Island ferry. Of course, other Manhattan companies did likewise.
They've been making 3 battalions work here on the island for like 100 years... no wonder we can't get another one lolSI response used to be only D 8 and 2 SI BCs assigned to a multiple alarm. 3rd SI BC was not assigned to incident to ensure at least 1 SI chief was available for a new incident. Not sure when assignment changes were made, but back in the days before the VN Bridge, it would take a long time for a Bklyn or Manhattan chief to respond by ferry. Most multiples were handled by 1st due BC, all-hands BC (both from SI) and D8. 3rd BC covered SI, or Richmond, as it was referred to.
Also, no staging BC, no Air Recon BC, no Rescue Bn BC, no Safety BC - how did they ever put out fires?
I meant at the same fire. SI multiples got 1 DC (Division 8) and 2 of the islands BCs - not all three. That was assignment into 1980s, years after the VN bridge was opened. SI also had 8th Division disbanded in 1975 so chief officers were limited at SI multiples. SI has had only 3 BCs to cover entire island "for like 100 years" and probably should have had a 4th BC somewhere in the center of SI long ago. They've been making 3 battalions work here on the island for like 100 years... no wonder we can't get another one lol
