No offense to eng 90. The top companies in runs for 2011 were 290,75,62 it was a typo on the vital statistics report.

...and not one of those companies was top 10 in "all hands or better"....so you can read "vital statistics however you want....

It doesnt matter who else uses them we are very different than every other department and have been known run our equipment extremely hard...just look how our  ferrars are holding up....not very well at all...ours is always going oos..there mechanics are absolutley they are not going to last very long at all...we should just of stayed with seagrave

Now that the "red tape" has been completed with KME the next step is the blueprints.....From what I understand KME should have the demo rig completed by possibly Dec. 2013.........The next step will be the FDNY sending the team down to Ark. to review it....Of course it will more than likely the team might find lets say 200 issues to be corrected....Once KME states it has been corrected the team again returns to Ark. for another inspection......At this point they might find 100 issues to be corrected........This process continues until the FDNY team finds no faults.....
Only at that point once it is finalizied the production of these KME pumpers will begin...........It will more than likely be sometime in 2015 when FDNY starts to receive this order............Just remember at this point the FDNY still has atleast a year with the remaining contract with Seagrave and it is possible that a add on of pumpers can be done as in the case previously  5 rigs , 3 rigs ect.

If anybody can remember the E-One pumper was donated to NYC after 9-11.......The FDNY sent it to 4 different engine companys to see how they held up.............The rig did not hold up in NYC and the FDNY team was not interested in them for further possible purchases...........

Just out of curiosity, can we better define "hold up?"  What, specifically are you referring to?  Hardware (door hinges) coming loose?  Suspension easily shot?  I'd imagine these rigs go through brake pads like nothing with all that weight, combined with all those NYC stop lights, etc.

The E-One pumper was demo'd in 1996 97 by the 4 engine companies prior to 9/11. If theses KME rumors are true then many FDNY Engine companies will go way past the 10 year replacement cycle, there are plenty 02,03,04 pumpers out there. If true about the demo then how could it take 1 year just to build that rig. Maybe time to just go back and add on to seagrave. The seagraves have held up very well so far.

There is a big KME factory near Jim Thorpe in Pennsylvania on Route 209.

Hold up would probably mean withstand the daily abuse of the FDNY with minimized down time at the shop or KME dealer for warranty repair. It could really be anything that is not normal wear and tear.

I'd be interested to see how this works out. KME just started delivering to Boston. LA City also just purchased a few. LA County has been using them for years. I am also seeing them making inroads with a lot of the volly houses in the suburbs around the city. Keeping Mechanics Employed.

The KME plant is located in Nesquehoning, PA, near Jim Thorpe.  Probably less than 2 hours from NYC.  West on either 80 or 22 to 476.
