I remember in 1968 when the Medical Office was on Spring St (in the former Qtrs of disbanded Triple Section ENG*30 which is now the Fire Museum ) .....SAT*1 & the SAT*OFFICER were quartered there .....the Medical Offices were upstairs & the apparatus floor was kind of dark & dank with just the SAT & a the Officers Station Wagon which I think was Car 71?.There was also discussion at some point of moving Satellite 1 and the Satellite Officer car from Engine 9's old quarters at 55 East Broadway to the new quarters of Engine 17.
I believe Boston still uses scaling ladders, but only at their probie school.
When Dad went there, the Satellite Officer's car was numbered with shop number Car 633 (a Ford), followed by Car 762 (a Plymouth) and finally became Car 71 when they standardized Car designations. The Superpumper Captain became Car 70.I remember in 1968 when the Medical Office was on Spring St (in the former Qtrs of disbanded Triple Section ENG*30 which is now the Fire Museum ) .....SAT*1 & the SAT*OFFICER were quartered there .....the Medical Offices were upstairs & the apparatus floor was kind of dark & dank with just the SAT & a the Officers Station Wagon which I think was Car 71?.
