Quite a few fractured hands and wrists from the crank whipping back if you let go too soon. Well, that's what I heard from my dad and grandpa.Notice the hand crank. Has anyone ever hand cranked an engine?
Cars nowadays seem to need very little rotation to start up, but the 50s, 60s, and 70s models in my family needed at least a few seconds with the starter to run. I can't imagine doing that with a hand crank.
