Ferrara Rescues have leaking roofs, I heard they were sent back for repairs. That explains why the last time a Ferrara mechanic was at R5, he spent the afternoon on the roof. Also, the rear axles don't track correctly.

Is R5 oos again? i saw R7 parked out at 160 the other day and was wondering.

  R5 has been using their E-One while their Ferrara has been OOS for a couple of weeks, parked in the lot until about a week ago.

Yeah I saw that too when I was in SI last week. It was also nice to finally catch R1s Pierce on the street this past weekend.

I guess the current E-Ones and the Pierce will enjoy some extended time in front line service until the Ferraras get worked on.

Ive heard from someone who spends alot of time at R1 that there Pierce has being OOS alot over the past few months and they've had to run with a spare and lets not forget R4 have been running there Ferrera problem free for a while also

Ahh yes forgot about R4 getting the good one of the batch... I did not know R1 had issues with the Pierce over the past couple of months. I spoke with some guys there back in April and they really loved the truck.

No, not yet.  A few of the Ferrara rearmounts are in service, but the rest seem to be on hold.  The first few have revealed issues that they would like to correct before sending the rest into service.  They'll follow soon.  New design and a somewhat new manufacturer (for the city) equals new problems.  Everything will be worked out in due time and then we'll see how they make out.

Their new rig has been in service for over a month with no major complaints.

I remember the first they got it I was talking with one of the Emergency Crew meachanics and 32 Truck had a problem , He said it's gonna be a bad adventure with ferraras

R5's Ferrara went back in service on Dec. 17th and the E-One is now parked in the lot which sounds like a good idea. :

Does anyone know what the FDNY Does with thier replaced rescues? Are they refurbished , re-aquired by the manufacter?
If so who has purchased these pieces?

R4 and 5 are owned by the Remembrance Rescue Project. A non-profit organization in the Chicago area. R 4 has undergone some refurbishing and work on R5 should begin shortly. I belief that R 3 was scraped.

I've enjoyed reading your posts and following along with the deliveries of the new rescues. I am looking for anyone who may have rode on the Old R 5 (HME) or anyone that is familiar with the rig. Thanks!
