Chief JKs HANDPAINTED FRONTPIECE

Thank You for posting these Dan.....With the exception of my proby & my 108 FF Fronts most of the rest were handmade by Sampson Zats ...... the Gold R*2 Front was a gift that was hand painted by a Grand Rapids FF Dave Smith who was also a Sign Shop owner who did lettering & murals on expensive speed boats & many NASCAR racers cars......in 1985 when R*2 moved to Bergen St Dave flew to NY with one of his helpers & his equipment & they completely re lettered our '82 ALF.....he also presented us with a large redwood sign that was both sandblasted & painted with all the names of everybody in R*2 at the time...it still hangs in the FH.

Chief, did you go from Capt of E275 to Capt of L126? I've always heard there is a lot of "friendly rivalry" between the tigers and Merrick Magic.

Here's a real FIRE helmet. According to the Larchmont Historical Society, these were common in the early 1900s, and were worn in parades to provide illumination.  I'm not knowledgeable enough to say more than "Huh???".  Larchmont Historical Society photo.

Below; Helmet worn by deceased proby member. I was part of the recovery team for this young man. His dad is a Chief. I had the honor of covering him with American Flag and carrying him in stokes basket from scene. Carrying this young man with me, on the otherside of the stokes was FF Bobby Beddia (E 24) who would be killed later at the Deutsch Building fire just a short distance away.

FF Chris W. Ladder 5 helmet. Chris is seen carrying Father Judge in an iconic photo pointing to photographers, he is angry at the cameraman taking photos of the deceased Father Judge. ..... I replaced Chris as the Ladder 5 LCC after Chris transferred to work in the Division Office.

Lt. Mickey K. (E 16), one of 12 members to survive WTC 1 collapse in Stairway B. Mickey said as the crumbling tower was falling on top of him that he wanted "to make myself small and crawl into my helmet".
