VINTAGE FDNY WAR YEAR LIDS

^^^^^^Remarkable coincidence, reply #290 and the POSA truck Brother with badge 290. Cool. Somebody should play that number!

Anyone have an idea of what this frontpiece means from Motown?

Trial Fire Fighter
Detroit's version of a probie.

I acquired three of those 103-2 coins (two for academy classmates), they were made by Lt. Matt Lund, Annapolis Fire Department

These lids and frontpieces from the secret "Need to know" fire dept, and we don't "need to know..."

Here are some interesting frontpieces...

"....is there a letter C?....can I buy a vowel....."

First fire dept Entrance exam I took back in 1976. I was list #5, AAC only hired 4 that year and the list expired. Oh well....

Oh oh, looks like somebody "overbaked" the salty look on their lid...

.....and remarkably not a scorch mark on that flashlight, must be made out of asbestos!.....

^^^^^Thanks JK, here are the frontpieces, looks like they are being sold by a single collector...

Heres a few more frontpieces from the same collector, looks like the collector is looking to "cash in"...

Beats me?

Screenshot-2019-10-18-20-48-31-1.png
Listed on e-bay as "Ladder" 78, hmmmm?

Screenshot-2019-10-18-20-50-00-1.png
Could this be "Frankie the Firefighters" frontpiece?

Screenshot-2019-10-18-20-50-40-1.png
Not buying this one...

Screenshot-2019-10-14-19-33-26-1.png
Old style...nice.

The "Ladder 78" frontpiece is black so it is not from a ladder company. It is probably Engine 78, the fire boat that was at 90 St. & the East River before becoming Marine 5 in 1959.

On a slightly unrelated note, I was issued my first front piece by the department last night.
