That's exactly the issue with most of the new apparatus and the question boils down to who's fault is it? Is it the fire departments, the government, ISO or?
Too bad I don't know what they're talking about! However in this case the pressure is on the inside of the vessel, for the submersible the pressure was on the outside, completely different situation!
The problem is they are so small it would probably take 4 of them to carry everything the rescue carry!
The best rescue in recent years was the one from Pierce but it won't be because of the FDNY requirements
Looks like it just has radiant heat damage, other than replacing the plastic lights etc. it should polish right out! ;) Actually, it looks like it should be drivable, I wonder why they trailered it?
I like the red ladder, I don't believe I have ever seen one before! Also interesting to see that they are another 1 of the department that don't use Q2Bs or any other mechanical siren for that matter!
Update information, one firefighter has died now. He was from the Irmo fire department which is a suburb of Columbia. Also the number injured has been updated...
I believe the reason they went to these vehicles is because they were available with diesel engines, that way they could fuel up almost anywhere. Most of the other types of vehicles mentioned are not available with diesels.
Here's an article from the Charlotte paper and according to it ladder 2 was completely destroyed!

I have been wondering what generated the black smoke. It was just open wood framing with insulation from all reports, unless the insulation was spray foam, which I doubt because of its cost, I'm not sure what generated the black smoke.
The big difference is that one Charlotte was under construction so there was no sheet rock installed which would definitely slow how fast the fire could spread.
