Actually if it doesn't up happening it won't be until June 2023. I just looked it up and here's an article about it: https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2022/04/22/disney-world-losing-its-special-district-status-could-be-catastrophic-for-local-taxpayers/?sh=7a8c00ec1b1a actually, the...
Whenever I've seen a department dispatch SUVs(or pickups) on medical calls the unit leaves one or two men at the station to respond with the main piece of apparatus and the crew with the SUV responses it to the scene. Yes it costs more than not having the SUV but it saves much wear and tear on...
While I certainly agree they need more apparatus in service and the state of repairs of their present apparatuses deplorable I don't see anything wrong with responding to medical emergencies in an SUV instead of an engine company or truck company! I see absently no need to respond with a huge...
Interesting that the article says that these unit will be "stationed outside of the downtown fire station". You would think for a truck that cost as much as this does it would be stationed inside! Especially in the winter Toronto gets a lot of bad weather.
I wonder who gave him and the other civilians on board permission for the trip? That's highly unusual to say the least. Has anybody heard how badly damaged Marine 1 with damaged? I'm guessing it must be pretty significant considering somebody was killed aboard it.
I also had to laugh about the fact that grant money would be available to pay for the increased costs! Okay, grant monies don't come out of the local pockets but it still comes out of taxpayers pockets someplace. People don't understand that the money has to come from somewhere and the somewhere...
Who actually built a fire apparatus side of that unit? I know that Mack didn't do them anymore so it had to be a secondary supplier that bought the chassis from Mack.
It's all about visibility, amber and red are so common on automobiles that in many areas, they are going to green and/or blue so they stand out better.
The same thing have been mentioned about getting in companies in the Mack CF thread. The new Computer designed equipment isn't built and he was near as rugged as the old stuff was! Between that and all of the new "high-tech" gadgets the lifespan and in amount of repairs/maintenance Req has gone...
I really don't understand how the new boats need to be out of service as long as they are each year. The boats they were replaced whenever out of service this long on an annual basis. Is the design too complicated or??
I highly doubt that any of the trucks built today will last as long as the CFs did! However it's not all the fault of the manufacturers, the requirements to meet ISO have changed drastically, not always for the better. Companies want more and more stuff on trucks and to do that manufacturers had...
Don't know anything about how Virginia operates but what kind of inspection was out of date on the engine company? Unless it was something extremely critical it seemed like keeping the engine in service would have been a much better alternative.
