E206 was one of the last 2pc. engine companies going into the early 70's. In fact, from 1970 to 1973, E206 ran with twin 1965 Mack C-95 1000gpm pumpers. The engine was shop#1314 that came in late 1969 from E231 and the wagon was #1321 that came in 1970 from E41. ;) In 1973, they got a 1970...
My guess is that it was a relocator like L132 that used to spend time at L120. Interchange had not yet begun but there was a "nightime" Ladder 193 which was L10, that had a 1960 Mack/Maxim 85ft. ;) The fire was in 1967 so L103 no longer had a 1960 Mack/Maxim. At that time, Ladders 103, 107...
Yes, E216 had that 1960 WLF (#5932) until 1968. E331's first rig was a 1946 WLF w/booster tank (#2209) that was originally assigned to E158. Ladder 173's 1955 FWD 75ft. stick was shop #381 that was originally assigned to L121 until they got their first metal aerial, a 1960 Mack/Maxim 85ft...
Correction: I worked with him at the Bronx General Post Office at Grand Concourse & 149th St. I was on the 8am to 4:30pm day shift and he was on the 4pm to 12:30am afternoon shift so we crossed paths around 4pm. Notice that one of the alarms he logged was on 5/26/77 for Bronx box 2245 at...
The 1952 WLF (shop #2976) was sent to E324 around the start of the "War Years" (1967) in a swap so E252 could have E324's 1958 Mack C closed cab pumper.
I see that they were still using it in 1946 but there's a big gap until they got a 1958 Mack C. This looks like a trip to the Mand Library is needed to solve this. ;)
As mentioned above, adjoining engine and ladder firehouses that were built at different times: E45(1932)/L58(1974),
E46(1895)/L27(1904), E64(1908)/L47(1913), E73(1900)/L42(1913). Brooklyn has a unique pair at E220/L122. E220 was organized on Nov. 1, 1882 at 532-11th St. where they remained...
Box 1083 was the box for the main entrance of Ebbets Field. I used to have a 1954 version of that card but I was given an offer from a "die-hard" Brooklyn Dodger fan that I could not refuse for it. ;)
Re: Dodger photo: Mgr. Chuck Dreesen's left foot is mashing down hard on the clutch pedal of Ladder 113's 1937 Seagrave 85ft. tiller. Photo was taken around 1952-53 right after Joe Black's rookie season and before a 1948 Ward LaFrance tractor was placed under the 1937 Seagrave trailer.
