    New Seagrave Contracts

It will be interesting to see if Seagrave bids on the rescues, they never have in the past. Based on past experience I'm guessing that the rescue companies would like Pierce to bid based on the one rescue that was provided by them previously however they have never bid on any FDNY apparatus...

    New Seagrave Contracts

They won't keep all of the units going OOS as spares, they were only keep the better ones. The others will be sold off which is what happens every time equipment is replaced.

03/25/21 ~ BRAND NEW 2020 FDNY RESCUE 2 NOW IN SERVICE.

Do all of the rescues have Q2B sirens or that something the company added? I know that FDNY did not specify them for engines and ladders which receive Q2E sirens.

    New Seagrave Contracts

All those costs per unit seem low, I agree with your estimate for the TLs, last I heard engines were almost $600,000 so the cost per unit looks wrong for them also. I haven't seen a price for a RM recently but based on the service history I could definitely see them replacing all of the existing...

    New Seagrave Contracts

Any idea how many rear moments the contract is for? I'm guessing it's over 50. Also, how many TLs & Engines?

That price wouldn't surprise me a bit.

    New Tillers

Thanks for the information, I understand how some of those items could exclude some manufacturers, especially the spare parts considering something for the FDNY are custom that used for other apparatus. Obviously, the service in a requirement doesn't exist and wouldn't be practical for small...

    New Tillers

I know that most fire department have pretty strict specifications etc., what in the FDNY ones make them unique? It would seem like all the major department searches FDNY, FDLA, Chicago, Atlanta etc. would all have about the same degree of strict terms in their contract.

    New Tillers

Sounds like you have a chief or other person in power that likes TLs and is pushing them. That seems to be the only place in the nation adding additional tillers. I know many places are keeping them but I don't love any other ones that are adding additional ones. Of course LA has quite a few of...

    New Tillers

I know a lot of departments are actually going to more TLs because of the added compartment space. I know at least 3 departments in this area (Louisville Kentucky) have gone from RM to TL for this reason.

    New Tillers

Seems like every time tillers go out for bid are fewer of them. How many are actually in service these days?

1/1/2021 Staten Island All Hands Medical Emergency Box 0210

That sounds like a great job for the PD SVU units handle to keep them out of everybody's way.

During August 2019 Bronto and E/One were demonstrating a 200 foot plus Aerial Platform in NYC is there a thread here about it?

While there are certainly some places where truck like this would be useful I really don't see it happening in FDNY. The units need to be set up very close to the building in order to be operated safely and reach their maximum operating height. Thus in New York City they would have to be...

    Subway response question

This is probably a silly question to those of you who live in cities with subways but for those of us who don't have them, what is a secondary hold?

    10/29/20 Manhattan 10-60/Collapse Box 916

Did they actually have a hazmat incident as part of this or did the hazmat units only respond as a precaution?

    Pump Testing New Super Pumper

I would think that maybe it would respond because of the amount of foam it carries but I do agree it may never respond for use of its pump or monitors.

    Pump Testing New Super Pumper

For the amount of money it cost it would certainly be a waste of financial resources if they didn't put it in service.

    Pump Testing New Super Pumper

I highly doubt this unit will ever respond to a brush fire and even if it did I don't think they would waste foam. If it does carry foam (I've also heard that rumor) I wonder what type they will carry?
