Great video from Statter911, it really shows volunteer fire service especially in Baltimore County when they were in their hayday. The opening video segment that showed everybody running into the station to respond for a call reminds me of my time in WHFD.

That's interesting as well as being quite strange for FDNY. I guess maybe in this situation they thought that the industrial plants that use rigs like this know what they're talking about? It will be interesting to see how it's used and what the future for it in vehicles like it are for FDNY.

It's just a combination of extensive specification, the NYC purchasing system, the quality of work done by the apparatus builder and the acceptance process by FDNY. The only unit purchased recently that seem to fly through the system was the new "Super Pumper", for some reason it was delivered...

The present foam tender was only about five years old wasn't it? Certainly not time for replacement, I wonder how they decided they didn't need them any longer? Certainly seems likely risks that would require large quantities of foam haven't gone down any.

I'm sure that cost was at least one of the major factors in that decision. The satellites like the ones I have had and bought are quite reasonably priced because I don't have pumps etc. These high capacity pumpers are very expensive, I'm guessing around 3 times the cost of the satellites they...

That's Probably Why they kept the old ones fully equipped in quarters! They probably figured they were going to need spares on a regular basis. Too bad that there is underway in the purchasing system to consider past problems from a supplier.

If it really was delivered it was an awful quick delivery from the time of order. It was just earlier this year when they purchase order for it was posted here.

Those firefighters went above and beyond. Looking at those pictures compared to how fires are fought today shows quite a contrast!
