4/21/23 Bronx All Hands Box 2251

Wild guess. I saw that Manhattan had a 10-75 around that time (Box 1507). Squad 41 wasn’t available and Division 6 didn’t respond. I saw Division 3 took the fire above 125th Street.

Was this fire around 7 AM?

    Nassau County fires

Does anyone know how many “Working Fires” Nassau County gets per year? I ask because I see a lot of posts for Nassau County fires. Is Nassau much like southern/eastern Queens as far as construction and population?

4/20/23 Brooklyn All Hands Box 1549

This is an odd building. It looks like different buildings from the front, but it’s one building. Looking at the satellite view, I see there is a large courtyard. I was looking because 14 minutes to get water on the fire seems longer than usual. I wonder if there were access problems? Maybe the...

Charts - Growing Impact of FDNY CFR Runs on Engine Companies

Lebby, do you mean the engines don’t respond to drug overdoses, or the engines don’t respond if they’ve been doing drugs? 🤣🤣🤣

4/17/23 Port Chester NY 3rd Alarm

Look forward to it. I haven’t heard of Long Hills (Putnam County?). I know there is Long Ridge, which is part of Stamford FD. I saw a picture and Banksville had an engine and a tanker on location.

4/17/23 Port Chester NY 3rd Alarm

I wonder if any of Stamford, CT, tankers responded? That’s a lot closer than Ridgefield. Maybe Stamford was tied up.

4/17/23 Port Chester NY 3rd Alarm

Per Signal73, it appears a ladder from Greenwich (CT) FD responded. Probably their tower-ladder from headquarters. That is the staffed ladder. I, too, noticed a lot of long runs that mutual aid units responded from. If I had to guess, it’s probably due to a lack of manpower… especially during a...

    4/14/23 Bronx Brush Box 4503

The same would hold true if there was a fire that was on the island. If 70/53 were operating at an all-hands on the southern tip of City Island, the rest of the island would be left uncovered until a relocator got on the island. Anywhere there is a remote firehouse, there is a chance of a...

I guess when they say, “E70 & L53 do not leave the island, they mean they do not leave the island!”

    4/13/2023 Staten Island 4th Alarm Box 2068

I never figured the numbers before, so this may be common knowledge to most. This example would only work if all companies were available and the alarms were transmitted quickly. Squad not first or second due. Staten Island can send 4-Alarms to a fire and with the exception of 3 ladders, the...

    FF Bobby Thomas, E205 Retires

This is what makes the FDNY so great! They recognize the veterans and they always display class as certain dates and events occur. From experience, I’ve seen people come and go with nothing happening. The rookie asks you to clean out your locker early on your last shift so he can move in...

4/10/23 Manhattan All Hands Box 315

I see the Division is assigned on the All-Hands, Under Control. Is this more so that he knows an all-hands was transmitted in his area, or do they usually respond? I am thinking they usually don’t respond because the battalion many times states, “used all hands, fire under control, no need for...

4/8/23 Brooklyn All Hands Box 8627

I believe you are a dispatcher and it sounds like you were on-duty, so we’re hearing it from a primary source 👍. Question: Are the brush fire units staffed and paroling this time of year, or did E329 split the crew and responded with the engine & brush fire unit?

Does Fairview or Greenville respond on a 10-75, or automatically on the report of a fire?

4/7/23 Staten Island All Hands Box 1074

This stumped me at first. I thought, incorrectly, that if the backup satellite engine was going to be 4th due, it wasn’t sent because it would go on the all-hands in Staten Island and other selected areas or the 2nd alarm elsewhere. I was thinking along the lines of how squads appear on the...

I noticed about the divisions today. Div 7, Div 3, Div 8 all showed up at a 3&2 all-hands, under control. That makes sense now. They get a ticket, but I’m guessing, usually don’t respond.
