I believe it was in 1988 - Superbowl - Engine 232 was relocated - and then returned to quarters to be disbanded.

E-232 was falsely relocated if I remember on a super bowl sunday night tour and upon return members were told to clean out lockers unit is closed. This closing is reason we now have a 45 day notice if a unit is on the chopping block.

Correct....they were relocated to ENG*207 who was still in service.....207 is quartered w/the BKLYN Boro Command....Homer Bishop the Commander orchestrated it .....when they got back to their qtrs the Marshals were there & the house was closed.

In 1989 when koch closed ENG*41 a community activist ran inside the FH & handcuffed himself to a suspension member under the Rig....ESU was ordered to cut the cuffs & remove him ......in 1990 when we  re opened the FH as SQ*41 w/the old green mack the one half of the handcuff was still attached under the rig.....the same guy was arrested a few months after the FH re opened because he was now protesting the fact that it was a Squad responding to nine BNs on 10-75s...he wanted it to stay in the neighborhood.

I can still hear him singing his hit single, "Oh God, Not a Squad" which he performed nightly in front of quarters while his crew banged on the apparatus doors.

I started going to that firehouse when I was 10 yrs old  LOL  (1952) I want to add that in the 50's early 60's Car 17 (Chief Fire Marshall Martin Scott) was quartered with L 132 and  Amb 2 with E 280 as the houses were separate at that time.I would also like to add that I lived in the neighborhood and it was referred to as Bed-Stuy up to Eastern Parkway.I guess things change for the realtors. The WNYF's of the late 50's or early sixties had 132 listed as Bed-Stuy on the Runs and Workers list, the area was Zone 16, and the Post Office was on Atlantic Ave between Bedford & Nostrand. The area south of Eastern Pkwy was known as Crown Heights.
