Are the cabs on these units XMFD or LFD?

I'm not sure what LFD and XMFD are, but I can tell you that they're a heavily modified version of the Severe Service chassis and are split tilt.

**Correction....they're LFD.  Though, I don't know what that is.

How about including us in as to what XMFD and LFD stand for?  Now that Johnny has figured out what the new units for FDNY are it would be nice to know exactly what that terminology means.

They describe cab length. Spartan has EMFD and LFD. LFD stands for Long Four Door and EMFD stands for Extended Medium Four Door (I'm assuming KME's XMFD also stands for eXtended Medium Four Door). Sorry for all the acronymns.

Just to update everyone....

E 235 went into service Aug 3rd

E 255 went into service Aug 4th

E 331 went into service Aug 5th

The next two company's that are completed and radio's already programed that are scheduled to go into service are.

Engine Co. 292

Engine Co. 5

The companies posted above, Engines 235, 255, and 331, have NOT received KME pumpers yet, nor have Engines 292 and 5. The last new KME that entered service was Engine 294 with KP16024 on August 3rd.

Thank you HCO.  You are correct the info l was told was incorrect. I saw one of the bosses in the pumper section today and was told things didn't go as scheduled.  The first 3 companies will be delivered soon followed by the last two. As l stated the guys from 331 got a call from shops stating there KME was scheduled to go into service last Wednesday.
