Jack.....Now that Engine 235 has been delivered the following company's are awaiting delivery in the following order.... All the below company's have had there radios installed in Brooklyn and then programmed in Queens.

E 255 - 331 - 292 - 5 - 289 - 47

Also E 225 is not scheduled for a new KME and E 305  is close to the bottom.of the list.  86 units have been assigned to company's and the last 5 of the contact have yet been determined. The contract ends Nov 30th.

Doug,  Have they started to build the last five rigs?

Is there any rumors of add on's to the original contract.

Interesting question, however,  I don't know.  The next up for replacement will bte the 2008 Seagraves.  They don't need to be delivered until late 2018/2019.  Theres time there to put a new contract out to bid.

We'll see over the next year.

ENGINE COMPANY 62 had there new KME radio programmed this past Monday

ENGINE COMPANY 66 is having there new KME radio programmed today and tomm morning.

As far as the last 5 new KMEs l would think.it's,a wait a see thing....All 91 KMEs must be completed and in NYC by November 30th..which is three months away

Saw 45 Engine last night.  The rig must've been brand new.  No numbers on the side.  Just front and rear.

45 has had the rig for a while, most likely customizing side door numbers like previous rigs, the Eagles have great pride.

How are these rigs holding up?

Do the firefighters like them?

Pros and cons??

Generally fine.  They've had some suspension issues, but KME addressed them quickly.  More specifically, the front spring brackets have sheered in a few rigs.  This was a quick fix and I believe KME has retrofitted the others.

There have been a few big issues, but they appear isolated to a handful of companies.  I think E59 had a serious Eng/Trans issue, but thats really on Cummins and Allison, not KME.

The A/C sucks, but the rid is good an they're quiet.  The back-step is more spacious than the Seagraves, so that's nice.  I think the driving position is better than the Seagrave, BUT the Seagraves handle and accelerate better.

Us, along with the surrounding Co's have had ours for a year, give or take.  So, all of them have 11 or 12 thousand miles or more.  So far so good.  Not perfect, but working out.

Thanks for that Update "JohnnyBopp" . Having spoken to 2 x ECC's they kinda mirror wat you have said. Some small slight issues but overall good to date

The 2008 and newer seagrave pumpers And kme pumpers are pretty much the same rig. In my opinion the seagraves are much better to drive, and the inside of the cab is better in the seagraves. The forward facing seats in the rear of the kme cabs are to close together so it feels tighter and less comfortable.

They should be considering KME was given one of the Seagrave pumpers to copy!

Update on the KME rigs.......

E 242  is in NY and scheduled to have the radio done next week.

Here is the remaining company's scheduled to receive the KMEs

E 166 - 229 - 009 - 068 - 308 - 320 - 305. &  168.

There are 5 remaining KMEs that will complete the total of 91 apparatus.
These rigs have still not been assigned to company's as of yet....

I agree about the forward facing seats.  However, the backstep is larger overall in the KME.  I also like the wider steps.  When you say the inside of the cab is better in the seagrave, what do you mean?  I'd agree they're well put together, but the layout for the ECC isn't great.  I don't like how far i have to reach for the emergency lights and the viewing angle from the seat is not as great.

YES....Engine Co. 9. has a 2004 Seagrave with will be replaced by a 2016 KME.....As l previously stated the last company on the list to be replaced is Engine Co. 168  in Staten Island which has a 2006 Seagrave.
As far as the remaining 5 new KMEs after that l have no clue as to whom they will assigned to since the next company's to get new rigs have 2008 Seagraves and they really don't need replacements unit 2018....
