Seagrave Marauder II Pumpers

The list of companies scheduled to receive the 28 new 2010 Seagraves is in this months Fire Apparatus Journal F.D.N.Y. Update column by Jack Lerch - the 2001 and 2002 high pressure pumpers are not scheduled to be replaced by any of these new deliveries.  I also do not beleive there have been bids solicited for new Squads yet either.

Oh wow that must be the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. It's a great program. I have some friends in that. I am just in the regular School of Arts and Sciences and majoring in Biology.

All FDNY Pumpers in recent history have been 2 stage pumpers, we also have a few high pressure (3rd stage) pumpers. I dont ever recall single stage pumpers in FDNY, the 1000 gpm and 2000gpm have 2 stage waterous pumps. Most pumpers are set in volume and use pressure for standpipe operations when pressure is required to move water a distance.

Recent deleveries to the companies:

SP 10007     E 321     8/26/2010
SP 10008     E 293     8/31/2010
SP 10010     E   72     9/22/2010
SP 10009     E 154     9/28/2010
SP 10012     E 265     10/13/2010

At the shops:

SP 10011    E 1
SP 10013    E 15
SP 10014    E 7

Is the hydrant pressure that low in NYC that they have to use hard section to make hydrants?  Or for some reason does FDNY not use soft suction hose?  Also why don't they carry LDH?  It's almost impossible to utilize the 2000gpm pump capacity without it.

The main hydrant connection is at the front bumper where there's already a a pre-connected 35 ft. soft suction. LDH is carried on the six Satellite hosewagons

Further on hydrant connection and drafting:

The current Seagrave pumpers have, in addition to the front 35-foot hydrant line, two flexible 6-inch PVC suction sections for drafting only, one 6-inch flexible section for hydrant connection or drafting, and one 4?-inch section with 4?-inch butts for hydrant connection
