FDNY Pumpers awarded to KME

I remember that job, E162 was 4th due on the inital. Some job.

Think this pic was from the same job but I could be mistaking:

Pics are from NYCFIREBUFFS on FB:

The next KME to head to the radio shops in Maspeth is E277. E249 also recieved their new rig and is now in service.

NO....A few minor issues that there mechanics immediately  corrected. .....Knock on wood there nothing like the original Ferraras

So what did KME do differently then the other companies that there trucks have had far less issues?

Maybe:

1.  Good Quality Control program?
2.  Better workers?
3.  Better worker training?
4.  Better initial design?
5.  All of the above?
6.  None of the above?
7.  Some of the above?

I would probably say all of the above with the biggest emphasis on items #1 & #4!

What's with those pictures of engine 38?  It looks like it has masking on it for repainting or something?  It's obviously but already completed because it is completely lettered.

These pics were taken in Plant 3.  From here it goes to the FINISHING plant and then the last thing is the continuous 8 hr  pump test....

Also in regards to the post by RAYBRAG , I would personally think it's all of the above......The apparatus put allot of work into the design of the new KMEs.....The guys at KME take much pride building the FD NY rigs along with all the other apparatus they are and have been building.....Over 75 percent of the workers are vollies and know what it means to build a safe dependable fire truck.....If there's a slightest doubt that there is a issue work will stop until it is discussed and the correct fix is made......The workers were very happy and proud when they found out KME won the contract......

KME HAS THERE OWN PRINT SHOP.....THEY MAKE ALL THE LETTERING THERE AND THEY PUT IT ON..  THE COMPANY PATCHES ARE DONE BY A SEPARATE VENDOR AND WHEN IT IS DONE IT GOES TO THE KME PLANT AND KME PUTS IT ON THE RIG.....THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT FONT SIZES USED FOR THE NUMBERS AND LETTERS
