With Ferrara appearing to be making a bold stand with the FDNY (with the 40+ sticks, 5 heavy rescues and HazMat Unit), does anybody forsee them
also building the next batch(es) of engines?

I know that Seagrave has been the dominant name with FDNY for the last 20 (+/-) years, but does anybody see their years coming to an end? Or is it too soon to tell?

As history has shown, the Mack CF/Ward 79's were in for years during the "War Years"...then began the flirtation with the ALF's during the 80's...then back to the "newer" Mack CF/Ward 79's...before finally changing over to Seagrave exclusively.

Your thoughts please? I'm interested in some opinions on this matter.

-Thanks.

I think it's all a matter of bidding and priorities.  I'm sure Seagrave doesn't want to lose FDNY as a customer.  they're pretty much had the business to themselves for quite awhile.  My guess would be that Ferrara surprised them with the bid on the aerials and they lost it because of price, I bet they won't let that happen again in the near future.  As for the rescues, second pieces and the HazMat unit, Seagrave really doesn't compete in that market, I was hoping they would end up with Pierce but unfortunately they are usually more expensive.  I really don't see a major shift away from Seagrave to Ferrara unless Ferrara has done some major pencil sharpening for the bidding process.

There are a great deal of engines up for replacement over the next 18 months, so I'm sure we'll see who's getting what at some point in the not too distant future.

Engine 50's rig is at Seagrave in NJ. Saw it on the road this morning and noticed something interesting. The left side door where the number should be didn't have any number on it. All other markings were on it though. Anybody know anything about that?

I had a run with Engine 50, they said they got into an accident with it.

That would explain the missing 50 on the back left door of the cab. Thanks!
